What is an AED?

AED, which stands for Automated External Defibrillator, is a portable electronic device used to treat sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). It is designed to deliver an electric shock to the heart in order to help restore its normal rhythm. AEDs are user-friendly and can be used by people with minimal or no medical training. They are commonly found in public places such as airports, schools, and shopping malls, and can significantly increase the chances of survival for someone experiencing cardiac arrest.

Why are they important?
